JBL Radial Room Speakers

Product Description

Surround your iPod® with legendary JBL® sound. JBL Radial delivers clean, powerful high- and mid-frequency sound — and plenty of deep, distortion-free bass — from a compact device with almost unlimited versatility. As a music system, JBL Radial stands alone. As a computer peripheral, it replaces (and seriously upgrades) your external speakers and subwoofer. And as a multimedia entertainment center, it even sends your iPod photos and video to a TV monitor. But however and wherever you use it, it’s the sound that sets JBL Radial apart.

The Radial incorporates a universal iPod dock adapter, which is compatible with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod video 5G and 5.5G and the iPod nano 1G and 2G. Simply slide your iPod into the dock and you’re set–no additional cords to connect or adapters to fuss with. As an added convenience, the Radial also offers an auxiliary input for connecting a variety of other portable audio devices, including the iPod shuffle, personal MP3 and CD players, desktop and laptop computers (all platforms), and satellite radio receivers. As long as your portable audio device has a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack connection, you can play the audio through your Radial speaker.

As a bonus, the Radial comes with a wireless RF remote control, giving you the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room, in another room, or outside up to 20 feet. The wireless remote lets you easily change tracks, browse libraries, adjust the settings, and scroll through the extras. Other details include a sleek white housing, convenient one-touch volume and muting controls, a computer-optimized equalization system that produces a complete sound stage, and a USB 2.0 cable for synching and charging your iPod. The Radial, which offers a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, measures 12 inches wide by 10.5 inches tall and weighs 2.5 pounds. It’s also backed by a one-year warranty.

6 Review for the JBL Radial High-Performance Loudspeaker Dock for iPod

I purchased this unit for a vacation rental rather than having a tradional stereo. The quality, sound, and especially the bass is great. Dont expect earth shattering sound but the size vs. peformance is best I have heard. I own a couple of Imation units that are more compact units for traveling but by far this JBL dominates them. The bass is awesome for a unit of this size, to repeat myself again.

Great for a small place or bedroom. Or in my case, a rental property.

JBL provides all these different adapters for different Ipods but for some reason, the adapter doesnt fit in that well for the 80gig ipod. Its cut out a few times and the remote isnt working that well with that adapter. No worries though, you dont need those adapters and all the Ipods dock in it.

Purchased this for my wife’s b-day. I first used an mp3 player with the supplied cable and the sound was fantastic but the remote did not work. In the manual it says it only works with a docked ipod. I then tried using the supplied dock plates with my wife’s Nano and the alignment is off and cannot get it docked using the plate. This was still ok since it fit snuggly without it. Unfortunatly, the remote still did not work. Again reading the manual it states either reset the ipod or replace the battery. After doing both, it still did not work. I am now sending it back and will update when the new one arrives. Had the remote worked I would’ve given it five stars because the sound quality is that good. I can’t wait to receive the new one to start enjoying great sound from her ipod.

Follow-up: I received my new one Jan. 29 and again it had problems. The AC adapter did not fit snuggly and after listening to music for about an hour the plug vibrated loose thus losing power. I again had to ship it back for another unit. I received the new one and finally am enjoying great sounding music. I would still give it 5 stars if not for the fact of the aforementiond problems. The sound will absolutely blow you away.

The JBL Radial has one of the strangest remotes that I have ever seem or used. Still, it isn’t strange enough to overlook all the great features that this speaker has to offer. If you got an iPod, then you need this speaker.

Dear All,

Please be aware that the JBL radial will not transmit video out through the S video connection if the ipod is any of the new 4th generation.

I bought a 4th generation 8gb nano and it doesn’t work so I called JBL and they informed me that Apple have changed the software on video out on all new ipods so the JBL will not show photos or play videos on a TV

But putting that issue to one side, the sound is awesome!!!

Will they be coming out with a newer or updated version to fix this problem? I want one these soooo badly. But I need the video functionality! I use my iPod more for watching videos than anything else.
